So I sort of started this 'thing' a while back of listing some random facts about me for each year of my life to commemorate a birthday. Up until now, I have mainly just done the list for 'fun'. I thought, to commemorate my 'last' (acknowledged) birthday ever, I would post it. I am thankful for each year God has given me and each one is an example of His grace and unfailing love. I hope I can continue to make these 'non-birthday' lists for years to come.
1. I took an amazing, solo road trip this past year. Sounds too cliche to even utter, "I will never be the same."...but I won't.
2. I jumped out of an airplane in October. It was incredible. I highly recommend it! This from one that used to crawl across bridges with slats in them.
3. I found that I prefer to drive barefoot. This came from the countless miles I drove on my trip - I would get in the car and promptly ditch the shoes/sandals/flip flops I happened to be wearing. It continued after I got home. I still manage it even though the seasons have changed.
4. Has a newly developed belief that technology might just be the downfall to our society one day.
5. Tears well up when I see butterflies.
6. Cannot get enough of the scent of sandalwood.
7. I am not much of a t.v. watcher at all. Several days in a row of being a couch potato in front of the television over Thanksgiving made me feel achy, restless and sad. No more of that!
8. Would like to go see the aurora borealis one day.
9. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
10. I have been anticipating this new year like none other. Ever.
11. I have a love/hate relationship with the number 11.
12. Could subsist on bananas, milk, coffee, chips and salsa and salad.
13. Would love to live somewhere very different someday - exotic, cultural, warm...very warm.
14. I have a desire for a reason to get all dolled up (formal) and go dancing.
15. Despise doing bills. It's top of my list of dreaded 'chores' - right up there with cleaning out the fridge and ironing.
16. Longs, just about every day, to feel the closeness to God that I experienced on my road trip. Some days the longing is so deep it aches.
17. Thoroughly enjoys listening to "Already Gone" by Kelly Clarkson in my car. LOUD. I sing it with all my might and get a sense of empowerment from it. Hokey, you say? Try it.
18. I have a new dog - Maggie. She's a quirky schnauzer that doesn't look like one, and I think it's funny that I call her "Aggie'" sometimes and she doesn't notice the absent "M" sound.
19. I find myself astounded at the amazing people my two children are becoming each day, before my very eyes. I am humbled.
20. I am one of those people that does not handle cloudy days very well. Several runs of overcast days, and I begin to feel smothered.
21. Loves clouds. The white, fluffy cumulus or wispy, dreamy cirrus variety.
22. Although I do not have much use for t.v. if I am in control of the remote (which is RARE), it will be on Travel Channel or House Hunters International.
23. It is not good for me to be upset or angry and drive - I can be rather wreckless, besides that I already have a lead foot.
24. Am a white noise junkie.
25. Hopes to live in a small beach town someday where I can ride my bicycle everywhere, complete with a basket attached to the front for carrying purchases from the market and books from the library.
26. Would like to do some sort of missions someday.
27. Ripped all the blinds down (BLACK BLINDS, MIND YOU!!!) in my classroom days after they were installed just so I could keep an open portal to the sky and world outside.
28. Is generally never satisfied with my hair. Seems I am usually always in some state of 'change' for my 'do.
29. Would LOOOOVE to go back to school - I would major in English this time, with an emphasis on writing and publication with a minor in Gender studies.
30. I still like to color in coloring books, on occasion.
31. Turquoise continues to be my favorite color.
32. Not much of a movie buff, really.
33. Triangles are my favorite shape.
34. Three is my favorite number.
35. Weird foods I've tried - escargot, calamari, raw oysters...
36. Shows that bring back the feeling of comfort from childhood are - M*A*S*H, Price Is Right, Andy Griffith, The Muppet Show and The Cosby Show.
37. Likes a good foot rub.
38. Thinks cacti are beautiful.
39. Would like to get back into biking.
