For The Summer (Live on Letterman)
So slip on into the hammock, icy cold beverage sweating in your hand, and let your foot dangle and brush the creeping honeysuckle as you rock gently and dream of all things beautifully summertime. This song is perfect for just such a day.

Out of Pocket
I'll be out of pocket for the next couple of weeks. I will be without a computer and will be camping and attending my brother's beach wedding. So, look for those pictures and LOTS of writing to come very soon. Hugs, kisses, sweet dreams until we meet again.

Phil Joel - God Is Watching Over You (Music Video)
To my incredible son, Zach. "Swing low sweet chariot - It's time to fly!"
House Full of Memories
For graduation, I decorated with most of Eldest's growing up memorabilia from infancy on up to his 12th grade year. One caution in doing this for your own future graduates - maybe two: 1)Start earlier than the night before, 2) Be prepared to linger and cry as you literally hold the story of your child's life in your hands. I had the best time doing this and it made for great conversation with family and friends.
The 'soccer room'
The band/drums display
Childhood teddy bears, 'blue blankie' with a photo of him with his blanket and his booster seat. THIS had me undone holding his shredded, threadbare blanket in my lap.
Golf display
Baby/toddlerhood
His tribute corner to all things Star Wars. This is just a mere sampling. There is not enough room to display it all.
Our monumental trip to see the Newsboys and have backstage passes. This is the singer (on the left picture) that did the song "God is Watching Over You". This has been 'our' song since I can remember.

To Beckon
Here is my blog's actual namesake...
Hidden in a 'room' with walls made of green and honeysuckle, my hammock drapes beside the creek in a stream of sun. You can not see it from the house. You'd hardly know it was there unless you were invited into this place of quiet.
This path brings you inward, its heady perfume leading the way.
Comes complete with a stick for pushing.
Above is a canopy of spring green.
Summer sweetness surrounds you and beckons you to come and stay awhile.

My Graduate
Eldest's coming home outfit and his graduation gown.
Headed up front to make it official.
WE did it!!!
Don't mind me - I'd been up past 2:00 the night before, raced through the last day of school with seven-year-olds, ran about 400 errands, cooked/cleaned, welcomed all our family and made it to graduation. I think I was sleeping here with my eyes open - puffy and dazed.
Incredible group of kids

Time Takes Flight
My firstborn's first grade picture. He was wearing his absolute favorite shirt. He loved to show off his 'new' teeth. I taught in the first grade room diagonal to his. I looked forward to his little face appearing in my doorway every afternoon after school.
This is his senior picture - taken by his sister. He is 'all about' the hair, clothes and smile. His heart tells a much deeper story. I stay up so I can get the late night talks, the first listens to a chord and lyrics he wrote, or a line from a book that he particularly likes. He has a propensity to words and language, varied music genres and the night sky. He has my tendencies in emotion, although his are more layered under the masculine exterior.
He graduates tomorrow. It all happened so fast.

for the warrior there is no such thing as an impossible love. he is not intimidated by silence, indifference, or rejection. he knows that behind the mask of ice that people wear, there beats a heart of fire. this is why the warrior takes more risks than other people. he is constantly seeking love of someone, even if that means often having to hear the word "no", returning home defeated and feeling rejected in body and soul. a warrior never gives in to fear when he is searching for what he needs. without love, he is nothing.

Warrior of the Light
wrecked
wrestling unrelented
here but hidden
near yet unreachable
the space
a deafening chasm
white silence
meets an alabaster abyss
resolute
yet desperate both -
longing ache
adrift in the
search
for
the luminosity
of your thoughts
that i become
a beggar
in my own heart
for just one scrap
from the pocket
of yours
wrecked

Harry Belafonte - TURN AROUND
My Mom used to sing this when I was little. I asked her to sing it again for me last summer and record it on my phone. Priceless. I love you, Mom. Happy Mother's Day.
Unofficially Official
...and I wait with great anticipation. So since I have to wait (ever so patiently), you will too. Meanwhile I think I will go lounge in my hammock that was fixed and re-hung for Mother's Day...surrounded by honeysuckle, creek sounds and dappled sun.

I promise- there is coming a time when I will post more than one-liners. Sometimes in life it is all you can give. However, I am of the belief that if you ask genuinely for someone to pray for you, it is courtesy to let them know the outcome. Still awaiting the final outcome, but this day went exceptionally well. Truly, I just walked through it with a sense of purpose and peace. I am giddy to the point of delirium that I am past today now- so much so, I am taking suggestions for songs to do a happy dance to.....
To all who thought about my request today... All 2 of you... (insert snicker) thank you from the bottom of these eagerly waiting happy feet.

Drivin' N' Cryin' - Honeysuckle Blue
What a song for the region where I live - honeysuckle, wild dogwood, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Chattahoochee. Took them all in today. Have loved this song for as long as I can remember.
Today
Today I:
*found out in the wee hours of the morning (because we had talked that long...) that Bin Laden was gone.
*breathed deep and tried to take in as much mountain air as I could to carry home with me.
*hung my entire upper half of my body out of the window of a moving vehicle to inspect a suspicious noise.
*picked honeysuckle. I tasted its sweet sips of childhood and then wore some of the flowers in my hair.
*hugged two amazing women with promises we would see each other again before they move.
*was given another small dose of hope.
*have been puzzling at the paths that are now before me.
Today has been so full.
